Interesting Herbert Hoover autograph letter signed, dated July 27, no year but circa 1906 when Hoover was a mining executive at Bewick, Moreing & Co. Hoover writes to investor W.J. Loring, one of Hoover's close allies at the company. The letter has some criticism for others they've worked with and details Hoover's strategy to wrest control to him and Loring. Letter reads in part, ''My dear Loring, Enclosed the basis of settlement we arrived at with CBH Re BR. Williams has sent your statement of your account...I am arranging [to] appoint you managing director...onto London Board thus getting the effective control entirely into our hands...I am very sorry to hear from Rolker of your discouragement...don't think of deserting the ship. If the DL's come out we shall be independent in 12 months time...Sincerely, HC Hoover''. Three page letter on card-style stationery measures 5'' x 8.25''. Folds and punch holes to left, otherwise near fine condition.
