Harry Houdini typed letter signed with content regarding Houdini's clashes with spiritualists. Dated 15 February 1926 on his personal stationery, letter reads in part, ''My dear Faber Birren: - The Spiritualists are going to hold a Mass Meeting against me at Orchestra Hall, 220 S. Michiagan Ave., Chicago, on February 19th, at 8 P. M. Please visit and let me khave a report on same. It is very imporant and if you want to take a stenographer along, do so at my expense...'' Signed by Houdini in black fountain pen.
Faber Birren was a friend of Houdini's who worked at a bookstore selling Houdini's books. Birren would also be dispatched by Houdini to investigate local psychics and spiritualists and then report back to Houdini with his findings. He would later become one of the most influential color theorists of the 20th century. Single page letter measures 8.5'' x 5.375''. Folds, light toning, small hole at top, chip to lower right corner, mounting remnants to verso and hole punched at right. Very good condition. Consigned by the family of Faber Birren.
