George Washington signed Revolutionary War discharge document, signed ''Go: Washington'' on 9 June 1783 during the Revolutionary War. Partially printed certificate furloughs Corporal Richard Williams from the 2nd New York Regiment until the official Treaty of Peace is ratified. At this time, Washington was under considerable pressure from his troops to receive their pay; he successfully quelled a rebellion and kept his Army intact until Congress approved a compromise agreement for payment. Five months later he would fully disband his Army, his reputation as hero of the Continental Army firmly established. Visible portion of document measures 7.5'' x 13'', matted and framed with an engraving of Washington to a size of 14'' x 26.5''. Double-sided frame shows the verso of document on back. Not examined out of frame, but appears in very good condition plus with folds. With a prominent signature by Washington.
