George Washington free frank signature, signed ''Go: Washington'' on a leaf addressed to Brigadier General Alexander McDougall, ''(On Public Service) / To Brigad'r Gen'l McDougal [sic]''. Docketing on panel is dated 22 September 1777 during Washington's Philadelphia campaign during the Revolutionary War, and just four days before the British captured Philadelphia. Document measures 8.125'' x 6.675'', with red wax seal present. Small holes from seal, and archival tape on verso repairing split along center fold, just touching the top edge of G in Washington's signature. Overall very good condition with a bold signature by Washington.
