Document signed by George, Prince Regent, who ruled the United Kingdom on behalf of his father, King George III, until he ascended the throne himself in 1820. The future George IV signs a petition for a patent submitted by George White, dated 1 November 1811. His bold signature appears at the top of the first page, headed, ''In the Name, and on the Behalf of His Majesty''. The petition reads in part, ''...he hath invented...a new or improved Method of preventing Accidents from Carriages...'' The petition is countersigned by Richard Ryder. A one pound, ten shilling blindstamp appears on page one of the three page 7.75'' x 12.25'' card style document. Areas of foxing and soiling, else very good condition.
