George Burns' silver writing set. This beautifully crafted silver pen and stand were personally owned by the legendary Hollywood entertainer. Burns wrote for his own comedy, the ''George Burns & Gracie Allen Show'' from its inception as a radio program through its lengthy run on television. The celebrated performer continued his show-business career after his wife Gracie's death and made a triumphant and unusual comeback at the age of 80 with the film ''Sunshine Boys.'' Functional ball-point pen writes in blue ink and measures 6.75'' long. The holder has black velvet backing to underside and measures 3'' deep, 2.75'' wide, and 1.25'' tall. Weighs a substantial 1 lb. 2.5 oz. Tarnishing to both items, else near fine. With a Sotheby's label from a prior auction.
