Already, since starting this note, I've been interrupted three times, for a total cost of one hour and twenty minutes. Within a matter of moments I must scoot for the Turkish embassy -- luncheon for the Turk c/s. Sun. and Mon. night I was abed by 10:00. Last eve I was a co-host for the Turks at a stag -- didn't get to bed until 10:40. Have seen Chuck Hall and Gen. Morgan (Butch) both of whom saw you at Mike's [Mamie's sister]. They report a good time. Along with this I'll send my 'bread & butter' note to Barbie -- want to convince her I have some manners. Loads of love, my dear, -- have a fine time.'' A note in the margin reads, ''Beedle [General Walter Bedell Smith] is coming to dinner tonight! Just us two!'' Eisenhower signs, ''Always yours / Ike''. The accompanying envelope is addressed to ''Mrs. Eisenhower''. 8'' x 10.5'' single page letter is in fine condition. 7.25'' x 3.75'' envelope is near fine.
