Al Hirschfeld typed letter signed upon his personal stationery, with amusing content regarding his caricature of Leonard Bernstein. Dated 18 March 1966, Hirschfeld writes to a Mrs. Ward: ''...I have indeed made a drawing of Mr. Bernstein...Needless to say you have my permission to use this drawing for advertising or publicity to further your efforts in extracting contemporary money from the coffers of the rich. In fond anticipation of eventually being a member of this segment of our society I should like a note from your good offices acknowledging this gift as a contribution to your tax free society...[signed] Al Hirschfeld.'' Visible portion of letter measures 6'' x 9'', framed to 11.5'' x 14.5''. Near fine condition.
