Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as President, dated 14 November 1935 upon ''The White House'' letterhead. Roosevelt writes to a constituent in New York City regarding clean milk, ''...You may rest assured that my attitude has not changed. I attach as much importance to clean milk now as I did in 1910...In the clipping the expression 'absolute fiction' is an interpolation of the newspaper...the whole matter of grades is entangled in state and municipal ordinances...The Consumers' Division would like to insure clean milk not only to babies but to the whole population at a price which the people can afford to pay. It can find no fault with a superior grade except in those instances in which the difference in price is substantial and the difference in quality is too slight to have an appreciable influence upon health or in the dietary. And in such instances you would be among the first to condemn the practices...[signed] Franklin D. Roosevelt''. Single page letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. Folds, else near fine.
