Apollo 8 astronaut Frank Borman signed memo regarding the presidential contingency plan should Apollo 13 end in disaster. Modern copy of memo dated 15 April 1970 details Borman's suggestions for President Nixon should the astronauts die. Borman was the White House Liaison during Apollo 11 and watched the moon landing with President Nixon; as a result, his opinion was sought out by Nixon's advisors. Memo reads in part, ''It is Frank's feeling, and I concur, that the President should leave for Houston immediately upon word of a disaster...'' Signed by Borman at the bottom in fine black felt-tip, ''If Haise, Lovell and Swigert died on Apollo 13. / Frank Borman / Apollo 8 CDR''. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Near fine condition. With Novaspace COA. A fascinating glimpse behind the scenes during Apollo 13.
