Rare ''Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award'' trophy and certificate. The Award is central to a weekly bit on 1960's tv comedy ''Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In'' in which a celebrity or politician is ironically honored. Figural sculpture in hollow gold tone metal is of a left hand with index finger extended, a pair of wings flanking the outstretched finger. Mounted to a wooden base. A gilt sticker with the title of the ''award'' applied to the base lends a fittingly cartoonish look to the gag trophy. Certificate features a large color illustration of the award statue. Dedication reads, ''Hear ye, hear ye...to all those witness thereof, the bearer of this is hereby entitled to single out some deserving citizen or group and award them the coveted Flying Fickle Finger of Fate. By all authorities, the esteemed winner is: [blank]''. At the bottom is a humorous list of 5 ''reasons'' for the award, beginning with ''Coming in last in the human race''. Award trophy measures 9'' in overall height, 6.5'' across at the widest and 2'' deep. Weighs 1 pound, 4 ounces. Scuffing to base edges and a break to the upper wing, else near fine. Single-page printed certificate measures 16'' x 10''. Toning, creasing, buckling and a tiny tear to left edge. Good.
