First edition, first printing of ''Animal Farm'' by George Orwell, his allegorical novel of political revolution descending into authoritarianism. London: Secker & Warburg, 1945. Housed in original green and gray dust jacket, with price of 6s. on front flap. And with ''First Published May 1945'' on copyright page as called for, one of only 4,000 in the first printing run. Bound in green boards, book measures 5'' x 7.5'' and runs 92pp. Some cocking to spine, foxing to endpapers and chipping along edges of boards. Overall in good plus condition, with clean interior. Jacket, printed on fragile war-rationed paper, is chipped at edges and along folds, with some tape repair to verso. Also in good plus condition.
