1937 bronze tablet "Award of Merit for Outstanding Achievement" presented to Farciot Edouart by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Edouart was presented the award on 10 March 1938 at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. A ten-time Oscar winner, Edouart, who began as a cameraman in 1915, was well known in the movie industry as an innovator, especially in the area of rear projection. An engraved plaque on the pedestal reads, "Scientific or Technical Award / Class II / Presented To / Farciot Edouart and Paramount Pictures, Inc. / For Their Development of the / Paramount Dual Screen Transparency Camera Setup". Edouart started with Paramount in the 1920's and worked there for more than 50 years, becoming Head of the Transparency Department. The tablet, featuring the Oscar figure and film reel, composed of gold-plated britannium and measuring 5" tall, tops the pedestal, bringing the total height to 6". The pedestal base measures 5.75" x 3". The award weighs 3.25 pounds. Minor corrosion to tablet and plaque; small chip to base. Overall in very good condition.
