Harper Lee autograph letter signed, dated 6 January 1993, written from Monroeville, Alabama, the author's hometown and the setting for her famous book, ''To Kill a Mockingbird''. Letter, in black ink, reads in part: ''Dear Mr. Salter: This season has been so hectic for me that I simply cannot remember if I have thanked you for 'Good Old Boy' and an autographed copy at that. If I have already done so, I guess it won't hurt to do it again! If I haven't, please know that I've intended to do so -- THANK YOU! I have loved Willie Morris's work ever since 'North Toward Home,' and don't know how I missed this one, but did, so it will give me special pleasure -- like finding a gold nugget -- to settle down with it...'' Signed, ''Harper Lee''. One page letter, measuring 5.5'' x 7.75'', has one fold from mailing. Also includes original postmarked envelope in Lee's hand with a Monroeville return address on verso. Near fine.
