Scarce end title plate from Twentieth Century Pictures, the very successful movie studio that merged with Fox Films in 1935 to form 20th Century Fox Film Corporation. Though Twentieth Century Pictures only produced 22 films during its two years of operation, all but one were profitable and two -- ''Les Misérables'' and ''The House of Rothschild'' -- were Academy Award nominated for Best Picture. The upstart company then merged with the struggling Fox Film Corporation in 1935 to give the world dozens of the most recognizable films in cinematic history, including ''Star Wars'', ''Titanic'' and ''The Sound of Music''. End title plate has an art deco typography reading, ''THE END / A TWENTIETH CENTURY PICTURE''. Mounted on Vadun illustration board, plate measures 19.75'' x 15.75''. Block of toning from framing, closed tears to margins, some scuffing and paper remnants from framing. Overall in very good condition. A scarce and important title plate.
