French Egyptologist and museum curator Georges Daressy typed letter signed regarding work on the Karnak Temple Complex. Dated 2 September 1914, letter on Antiquities Service stationery is written in French to the Minister of Public Works in Cairo. It translates in part, ''As with every year, I have the honor of asking you to authorize me to give a 1% displacement compensation to the officials/officers, whose names are below, during the entire duration of their mission in Karnak, during the 1914-1915 campaign. Mr. Georges Legrain, Supervisor...Of course, this special compensation does not have to be awarded until after the first 15 days of the mission period during which the rules allocate them 2%. I would be most obliged if you could let me know if we can increase Mr. Georges Legrain expenses to 2 Egyptian Pounds per month. Yours Sincerely. The Director General [signed] G. Daressy''.
