Exceptional watercolor by Edward Gorey, first exhibited in 1975 at Graham Gallery's showing of Gorey's work entitled ''Problem Pictures'', and subsequently featured in ''Goreyana'', where it's described as ''just about everything anyone could ever hope to see in a piece by Edward Gorey.'' Entitled ''Les Roses bleuatres l'oubliette dans la cuisine'', Gorey's clever use of apartment cutaways combines the absurd, troubling and amusing into one holistic entity. Signed in pencil by Gorey at lower right. Visible portion measures 5.5'' x 9.25'', framed to 12.625'' x 16.625''. Not examined out of frame, but appears near fine. Accompanied by original receipt from Bromer Booksellers of Boston, who published Gorey's miniature books.
