Original hand-drawn sketch by comic art legend Sheldon Mayer, circa early 1930s when the young Mayer was still a teenager. In this sketch, a hayseed and his donkey walk in a New York City subway tunnel, asking the city slickers on the platform above, ''Hey - How much further is it to New York?''. Signed ''Sheldon Mayer'' at bottom, sketch on flexible illustration board measures 9'' x 8.75''. Dampstain to right margin, and light chipping to edges, overall in very good plus condition.
