Very early autograph document signed by John Hancock, during the time he worked for his uncle, Thomas Hancock, after graduating from Harvard. Datelined Boston, 3 July 1758, Hancock writes in full, ''Mr. Henry Atkins / Please to deliver Mr. Francis Whitman one Hogshead of Lime for Thos. Hancock Esq. for whom I am, Sir - your Hum. Servt. / Jno. Hancock''. Complete with Hancock's paraph accentuating his signature, appearing slightly different than how it would later when he signed the Declaration of Independence. Document measures approximately 7.5'' x 3.625'', matted and framed to a size of 17.5'' x 13.5''. Not examined out of frame but appears very good to near fine with very bold handwriting.
