Dwight Eisenhower typed letter signed as President, dated 12 March 1954, on White House letterhead. Written to Eisenhower's brother and regular correspondent Edgar, letter discusses Eisenhower's mixed feelings regarding the Bricker Amendment. Reads in full: ''Dear Ed: I think I understand how the report that you did not agree with my position on the Bricker Amendment could have been circulated. In order to point up the justice of the other side of the argument, I have several times -- and in groups -- stated that even my brother did not go along with the stand I had taken on this particular issue [Bricker Amendment]. Like everything else, even a casual statement of this kind is blown up into material for someone's radio broadcast. I'm sorry you are upset about it, but the explanation is as simple as that. A more important subject is -- what are your plans for being in Augusta? With love to Lucy and Janis and all the best to yourself.'' Signed ''DE''.
