The Duke of Wellington autograph letter signed as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. Dated 9 September 1845, letter from Walmer Castle is addressed to Lady Powlett (Lady Grace Caroline Lowther), daughter of William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale. Signed, ''Wellington''. Accompanied by an etching of the revered Duke. Single-page letter measures 4.5'' x 7''. Tiny penciled number ''4'' to lower left corner and a small stain to lower right corner, else near fine. Etched portrait measures 4'' x 6'', mounted to paper to an overall size of 5.25'' x 8.5''.
