Dress made with fabric purchased by Jacqueline Kennedy on her vacation to Greece in 1963. After the tragic death of her son Patrick, Kennedy embarked on a two week vacation aboard a yacht owned by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, in which it was rumored that the two had an affair. She eventually married Onassis five years later, in 1968. Gold linen dress with removable matching belt is embroidered with gold thread with depictions of the Acropolis, manufactured by White House seamstress Lucinda Morman and gifted to Kennedy's personal secretary Mary Gallagher shortly after the vacation. Dress measures 40'' across the shoulders, and includes box of Prym's Super Steel Sonomor satin pins containing swatch of fabric used in the sewing of the dress. Box measures 4.25'' x 2.75''. Near fine. With an LOA signed by Jackie Kennedy's personal secretary Mary Gallagher.
