Animation cel from the production of Disney's ''Sleeping Beauty.'' The 1959 animated feature is a classic and the last film Walt Disney ever made. The story is based on an old French fairy tale and centers on Princess Aurora's struggle against the curse placed on her at birth by the evil Maleficent, pictured here. An icon of Disney villainry, Maleficent is considered the most treacherous character Walt Disney Pictures ever created. She is drawn here in all her glory with bright lips and nails and trademark glowing green eyes, her bird Diablo perched upon her black-cloaked shoulder. 9.5'' x 8'' celluloid is matted and framed to an overall size of 19.5'' x 16.5''. Official Disney sticker on back of mat reads in part, ''This is an original handpainted celluloid drawing actually used in a Walt Disney production...copyright Walt Disney Productions''. Some discreet flaking to paint on black portion of the cel. Very good condition overall and quite stunning.
