The Declaration of Independence in textile form, printed in brown ink on cotton measuring 24'' x 20''. Piece dates to 1867, where it was produced for sale at the 1867 Paris World's Fair, according to the reference book ''Threads of History.'' A red border surrounds the cloth, featuring seals representing the 13 colonies united by a serpentine laurel motif and separated by the names of seven founding fathers. Top and tail hems are hand-stitched. Dampstaining to majority of cloth. Overall in very good condition with still vibrant colors.
