Letter from James Dean's west coast agent, Dick Clayton of Famous Artists, to his New York counterpart, Jane Deacy. Dated 1 December 1954, this may be the first written mention of ''Rebel Without a Cause'' in connection with James Dean. Clayton first advises Deacy that Dean's participation in an MGM film ''The Cobweb'' won't be possible before writing, ''Warners have a good director-writer, Nick Ray, who is going to do 'Rebel Without Cause' early next year. Jimmy has met with him and seems interested. However, we'll have to wait for the completion of the script before we know whether it will be acceptable to Jimmy...'' Letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Very good to near fine condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
