Edith Head signed costume sketch from the 1975 film ''The Man Who Would Be King.'' The renowned designer signs ''Edith Head'' in pencil to the lower right. Head, an 8-time Oscar-winner, draws a man she labels ''Kafiri Horsemen / Scene 65'' in her own hand. She dresses the tribal character in a blue wrap-style pant and orange turban with brown sandals, adding feathers to his hair and archer accoutrements. Head was nominated for an Academy Award for her work on this film, based on Rudyard Kipling's short story. John Huston directed the picture, starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine as adventurers who became rulers of Kafiristan until the Kafir people turned on them. Sketch measures 9.5'' x 12.5''. Stapled to paper to an overall size of 13'' x 20'', else near fine.
