Lot of flight equipment personally owned by Charles Lindbergh, accompanied by an autograph note signed by Lindbergh, documenting his ownership of the items. Dated 24 October 1933, handwritten note reads in full, ''This box contains aircraft and personal equipment which was carried from the United States and which is now being returned in order to save the weight in carrying forth. / Charles A. Lindbergh / Oct 24, 1933 / Addressed to me at Lydecker St., Englewood New Jersey''. Letter measures 8'' x 10'' with folds and some chipping, very good condition. Accompanied by JSA COA.
At this time in October, 1933, Lindbergh and his wife were well into their five-month, four-continent voyage across the Atlantic, from Africa to South America. For this flight, Lindbergh piloted his Lockheed Sirius plane ''Tingmissartoq'', finally arriving back in the United States on 19 December 1933. Lindbergh's flight equipment, likely used on the trip, includes a brown cloth flight cap with leather trim and ear cups. ''C.A. LINDBERGH'' is written in marker on the interior as is the name of aviator ''E.J. Detmer''. With tag of A.G. Spalding within. Second piece of equipment is a pair of Western Electric 563A headphones with intact cord. Both pieces show wear from use, most noticeably to the leather on both pieces, overall in very good condition. A rare collection of Charles Lindbergh flight equipment.
