Carl Jung typed letter signed, composed on his personal stationery on 15 May 1945. Composed to his mentee, Dr. Rivkah Scharf, Jung compliments her on her ''truly excellent paper'' and also mentions that he must ''be protective of myself'' regarding time spent alone. Translated from the original German, letter reads in full, ''Dear Miss Scharf, I would have liked to still give you another hour before your departure if I had been able to do so. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible. As it is, I am not able to see more than two people in a day, otherwise it gets to be too much for me and I would like to be protective of myself. In the end, this will benefit everybody. So now you must hold your heart in both of your hands and take that westward flight. At any rate, some vacation time will be beneficial for you after having completed your truly excellent paper, which I am reading with the greatest interest and about which, so far, I have not needed to raise any critical objections whatsoever. / With warm greetings and good wishes, / Your always devoted / [signed] C.G. Jung.'' Single page letter measures 8.25'' x 11.75''. Folds and minor edgewear, overall very good to near fine condition.
