Bob Keeshan letter of recommendation to Fordham University, written by his former high school principal, dated 13 January 1947, when Keeshan would have been 20 years old. Keeshan graduated from Forest Hills in Queens, New York in 1945 and attended Fordham University on the GI Bill. Typed letter on Forest Hills High School stationery reads in part: ''...I wish to recommend for your consideration, Robert Keeshan who is applying for admission in February 1947...Several of his teachers have filed reports to show that he helped with rationing, directed dramatic productions...His ability to speak to large audiences was so marked that he was called upon to officiate on many occasions...His mother's death during his high school years presented a very heavy home problem to him, since his father was quite broken up...'' 1pp. letter measures 8.5'' x 11'' and has various edits in pencil, possibly by Keeshan or his principal. Folds and crinkling throughout and handwritten notes in blue ink to verso of letter, causing some show-through, else very good.
