Bob Dylan handwritten ''cheat sheet'' for the lyrics to ''Ballad of a Thin Man'', used by Dylan while performing during the 1974 Bob Dylan and the Band tour. Slip measuring approximately 2.875'' x 4'' is numbered 2-6, with prompts to the lyrics such as ''You walk into Room pencil in yr hand...Hand in yr money...GEEK / Contacts...One eye midget - now..sword swallow...CAMAL - FROWN''. Penned by Dylan in black ballpoint. Torn left edge and minor spotting, overall very good. With Roger Epperson COA.

Consignor's signed letter accompanies the lot, which reads in part, ''I had worked for Bob Dylan for many years...The Bob Dylan and The Band tour of 1974 was the first major tour Bob had undertaken in eight years...One of his classic songs performed was 'Ballad of a Thin Man'. This song had many verses and was quite complicated. Bob wrote a little 'cheat sheet' with the first few words from each line on a little piece of paper. It was up to one of the crew or myself to tape it to the music stand of the grand piano that he would use to perform that song every night. In certain photos taken of the concert the piece of paper can be seen. At the end of the tour a crew member handed me the 'cheat sheet' and I have had it in my possession ever since.''
