Benjamin Harrison warrant signed as President, temporarily halting the killing of fur seals by either the United States or United Kingdom in the Behring Sea. Dated 22 April 1892, document authorizes Secretary of State James G. Blaine or the U.S. Minister to London (and son of Abraham Lincoln), Robert T. Lincoln to ''effect the exchange of the ratification of the Treaties concluded between the U.S. and Great Britain''. Signed by Harrison, ''Benj Harrison''. This treaty called for the establishment of an arbitration committee chaired by the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Norway and Sweden. The tribunal ruled against the United States (who sought to halt the killing of fur seals), ruling that the seal population was not in danger of extinction. Single page bifolium measures 8'' x 10''. Folds and toning along edges, overall very good plus condition.
