Hero barbarian axe used onscreen in the 2000 Universal sweeping epic ''Gladiator.'' Large rubber axe is painted brown and silver to resemble a true axe with a wooden handle and heavy steel axe head. Carried by the barbarian leader in Germania during the opening battle sequence with the Roman legions. The barbarian leader emerges from the horde, and holding this axe in his left hand, tosses the Roman messenger's head back towards his legionnaire brethren. Quintus, played by Tomas Arana, then remarks, ''People should know when they are conquered,'' to which Russell Crowe replies, ''Would you, Quintus? Would I?'' Axe measures 48'' long and, at the head, 11'' wide. With provenance from Profiles in History. Fine.
