1966 Dallas Tennis Invitational sterling silver runners-up trophy awarded to legend Arthur Ashe. Trophy was awarded for a doubles match played while Ashe was a student at UCLA. Circular trophy is shaped like a bowl and has, ''Dallas Invitational 1966 Doubles Runner-Up'' engraved at the center. Though Ashe lost this round, he did win in the singles category, defeating UCLA colleague Charles Pasarell. Later this year, Ashe joined the U.S. Army, completing basic training and then heading the tennis program at West Point until 1969, when he was discharged, and soon began to play professionally. Sterling silver trophy, made by Wm. Rogers & Sons, measures 12.5'' in diameter with minor tarnishing in spots, else very good overall. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
