Apollo AS-201 flown heat shield, taken from the Command and Service Module-009 spacecraft used in the successful 1966 mission; interestingly, one of the objectives of AS-201 was to test the functionality of the heat shield upon reentry. Ablative segment is charred at bottom from reentry, and housed in vintage acrylic with slip reading ''Apollo Spacecraft 009 / Ablator (18000 mph reentry 2-26-66)''. Segment measures approximately 1.5'' x 1'', encased in capsule-shaped acrylic measuring 3.75'' wide x 3'' tall x 1.75'' deep. Light yellowing to acrylic and minor chipping on edges, overall very good.
