''King Solomon's Mines'' cinematographer Robert Surtees official 1949 Academy Award nomination plaque for which he took home the Oscar for best cinematography at the 23rd annual Oscars in 1950. The classic adventure film starred Deborah Kerr, Stewart Granger and Richard Carlson. As one of three of Surtees' Oscar wins, nomination plaque honors Surtees' work in the category of ''Color Cinematography''. At center is a gilt insignia of the iconic Oscar knight standing in front of a film reel in a pose that suggests Leonardo da Vinci's ''Vitruvian Man''. Signed by the Academy president and secretary.
