Abraham Lincoln magic lantern slide, picturing a young Abraham Lincoln, taken in 1846 or 1847 by Nicholas H. Shepherd shortly after Lincoln was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives; it's the earliest known portrait of Lincoln. Glass slide is from Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, who reproduced the image (likely in the early 20th century) from the original quarter-plate daguerreotype which now resides in the Library of Congress. Image shows Lincoln at approximately 37 years old in formal wear. Slide measures 4'' x 3.25''. In very good condition with excellent photographic quality.
