Here, the city of Richmond, Arthur Ashe's hometown, commemorates the budding tennis legend with this city-drawn ''resolution'' that was to be spread ''upon the permanent records of the City of Richmond.'' Reads in part: ''Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Richmond...compliment Arthur Ashe, Jr. for his outstanding achievements and for the honor and distinction which he brings to his native City of Richmond...'' With a gilt ''City of Richmond'' seal at lower left and signatures of Richmond's Mayor and City Clerk, dated 30 September 1968. Framed resolution measures 15'' x 22'' and has minor wear to frame, else near fine. With an LOA from Ashe's widow.
