Academy Award nomination certificate presented to Irene Dunne for Best Actress in the 1948 film ''I Remember Mama''. In addition to this film, Hollywood Golden Age actress Irene Dunne was nominated four other times in the Best Actress category and has been described as the ''best actress never to win an Academy Award''. Indeed, this nomination certificate is the closest she came to securing the prestigious award. At center is a gilt insignia of the iconic Oscar knight standing in front of a film reel in a pose that suggests Leonardo da Vinci's ''Vitruvian Man''. Signed by the Academy president Jean Hersholt and secretary with an official gilt stamp. Measures 9'' x 11.75''. Uneven trimming to left and right sides, otherwise in very good to near fine condition.
