Original Herbert G. Crisp poster for a 1917 Red Cross World War I campaign asking, ''Motherless, fatherless, starving -- How much to save these little lives?'' After declaring war, President Wilson ordered the American Red Cross to raise funds as mandated by the Red Cross Congressional charter. In response, the Red Cross held its first national War Fund drive in 1917 with a goal of $100 million, an astounding sum at the time. Within a few days more than $115 million was raised. The 20.25'' x 27.5'' poster is affixed to a 22'' x 32'' poster board. Minor creasing, in very good condition.
