Sally Ride's personal copy of the Rogers Commission report, formally titled ''Report of the Presidential Commission of the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident''. As a member of the Rogers Commission, Ride was the unspoken hero in exposing the cause of the disaster: O-rings that failed at low temperatures. While most people remember the famous ''ice water'' experiment performed by Richard Feynman on national television exposing the fragility of the O-rings, it was actually Ride who uncovered the data. She was covertly given a confidential memo by one of her NASA colleagues that showed O-ring performance in one column next to temperature in a second column. Ride gave this memo to fellow committee member, General Donald Kutyna, who then invited Feynman over to dinner knowing that Feynman could expose it publicly. General Kutyna didn't reveal this until after Ride's death, as an internal NASA investigation into the leak could have resulted. Hardbound book comprising volume I of the report measures 8.75'' x 11.25'' and spans 256 pages. Light wear, overall in very good to near fine condition.
