Stan Laurel typed letter signed with his full name ''Stan Laurel'', regarding Marlon Brando and a WWII ''Victory Caravan'' tour that he did with Bert Lahr. Writing to his friend Bill Brown Starkell on 20 March 1964, Laurel writes in part, ''...Sorry to learn the sad news of your Mother, my deep sympathy...no doubt that diabetic situation had a great deal to do with it...I met Bert Lahr, was on a fund raising tour, a show called the Victory Caravan [during World War II] a lot of the stars played one night stands around the Country - about I2 or I4 days, Stadiums, Auditoriums etc. raised around two Million Dollars I heard...'' Laurel then comments about Marlon Brando's recent arrest, ''I read re Marlon Brando - sounded like a publicity stunt.! the case was dismissed - no fine or sentence...As always - [signed] Stan Laurel''. Single page letter measures 5.5'' x 8.5'' on Oceana Apartment Hotel stationery where Laurel lived. Folds, else near fine. With original mailing envelope.
