George B. McClellan signed CDV photo, signed by the controversial Civil War General on the bottom mount, ''Geo McClellan / Maj Gnl USA''. With photographer's backstamp for John Adams Whipple of Boston on verso. Notorious for failing to seize the momentum during critical Civil War battles, McClellan was relived of his command by President Abraham Lincoln after Antietam, but would return to challenge his former Commander in Chief in the 1864 Presidential contest. CDV measures 2.25'' x 4'', with trimmed edges. Very good condition.
