Court document signed by Thankfull Adams, sister-in-law of President John Adams, who here petitions the court regarding the estate of her late husband Elihu Adams, President Adams' brother. Elihu Adams was a Captain in the Revolutionary War and served as Minuteman in 1775. Datelined 21 April 1777 from Braintree, Massachusetts, Thankfull Adams petitions the court for permission to sell real estate in order to discharge the debts of her husband's estate. Document measures 6.25'' x 5.25''. Docketing to verso reads. ''Mrs Adams Petn.'' and ''Ask Mr. Palmer whether Sam'l. Green has any wages due to him.'' Pinholes at intersecting folds, overall very good plus condition.
