Illustration by ''Mad'' magazine cartoonist Jack Davis, who here draws a funny portrait of a man on a desert island, refusing rescue to watch his MTV. Davis would create this piece in the early 1990s as an ad for Elektra Records commemorating the launch of MTV, prescient of the even greater impact that screens would have on society over twenty-five years later. Rendered in watercolor and ink, illustration measures 10.5'' x 13'' on artist paper measuring 15'' x 20''. Chipping and tears confined to margins; artwork itself is near fine, signed by Davis at lower right.
