Two original albumen prints from 1891, taken by Northwestern Photo Co. of Chadron, Nebraska, whose outfit is well known for documenting the aftermath of the Wounded Knee massacre. Photos were taken in early 1891 shortly after the massacre, with one depicting ''A Sioux Graveyard'', identified in the negative, ''PR [Pine Ridge] Res. S.D. 1891'' and numbered ''No. 1396''. Photograph, likely taken by George Trager measures 7'' x 4.25'', affixed to an album mat, the other side of which another 7'' x 4.25'' photo is affixed: a portrait of several Sioux survivors along with scout Frank Gerard, Major John Burke, and J.M. McDonald, a reporter for the ''New York World''. Sioux include Good Lance, Big Talk, Kicking Bear, Two Strike and Short Bull. Identified in the negative as ''No. 67'', along with the men, photograph was taken by George Trager. Some buckling and staining to mat. Portrait photograph is a bit light, overall in very good condition. A rare set of original photographs following the Wounded Knee massacre.
