Jimmy Crabtree's gold medal from the victory of his team Aston Villa at the First Division Championship in 1899. Medal in 15 carat gold is in the shape of a shield, with smaller shield within containing inlay of red enamel or stone in the shape of a lion rampant. A blue enamel scroll stretches across, reading, ''Aston Villa F.C. / 1899 / League Champions / Prepared''. Verso is engraved ''J. Crabtree'' and struck with British gold stamps and Vaughtons maker's mark. Measures 1''x 1.75''. Weighs 0.75 ounce or 19 grams. Some tarnishing to verso and rubbing to maker's mark, else near fine.
