First edition of Jack London's ''When God Laughs And Other Stories,'' MacMillan: New York: 1911. This 319pp. volume comprises a dozen of the acclaimed author's short stories. Among these is ''Piece of Steak,'' noted for revealing his socialist politics through his telling of a boxing match between an old man and a young one. Bound in dark olive green cloth boards with gilt lettering and red and green design. Runs 319pp. and measures 5.5'' x 7.5''. Ever so slightly cocked with bumping to board corners and spine ends. Light toning and absent front free endpaper. Overall very good to near fine.
