Guillotined French Napoleonic General Alexandre de Beauharnais autograph letter signed. Beauharnais, the first husband of Napoleon's wife Josephine, writes in French to a woman he refers to as ''Citizen'' signing, ''Alexandre de Beauharnais''. Writing from ''Vissembourg the 22'', he discusses how touched he was hearing about her situation, promising to see her at his first opportunity. He also mentions her husband and preparations for a trip to Strasbourg. Beauharnais was sentenced to death during the infamous ''Reign of Terror'' shortly after the French Revolution. Folded card style letter measures 6.5'' x 8'' with expected toning and very light small stained areas. Overall very good condition.
