First edition, first printing of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter debut, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" signed by J.K. Rowling. Rowling's tale of an 11 year-old boy coming of age with magical powers is published by Bloomsbury: London: 1997. Paperback volume bears Rowling's autograph inscription to the dedication page. Inscription refers to the dedication sentiment, reading, "for (another!) Jessica / J.K. Rowling". Book itself is a true first printing, featuring the number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 on the copyright page, and the first printing misprint on page 53 of "1 wand" listed twice, as well as the Wendy Cooling cover quote: "A terrific read and a stunning first novel". The cover wraps, however, are the first edition, second printing, as the word "Philosopher's" is spelled correctly. Early signature is evidenced by the separation of the letters in her name, which she ceases to separate in later examples following the release of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", the second book in the series of seven. Runs 223pp. Measures 5" x 7.75". Ever so slight wear to the outer corners of the covers, else fine. This is thought to be one of ten or fewer similar presentation copies in existence.
