Kay Kendall screen worn dance leotard from ''Les Girls''. Kendall stars in the MGM musical comedy as Sybil Wren, a Parisian showgirl who writes a tell-all memoir about her experience in a dance troupe. The film was released in 1957; sadly Kendall died in 1959 of myeloid leukemia. Her performance here garnered her the only major award of her career: a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a musical or comedy. The film's costumer Orry-Kelly won the Oscar for his work in this film. Handcrafted leotard is made of pale pink silk with lace, beading and sequined decorations concentrated around the top and bottom halves of the garment. Leotard fastens with hook and eye closures. With built-in bra. A paper tag stapled within reads, ''MGM 3 / 90725''. Written on a fabric label inside is, ''1707-5676 K. Kendall''. Measures 14.5'' across bust, 10.5'' across waist, 16.5'' across hip and 23'' from top to bottom. A non-functional zipper closer in the back has been supplanted by the hook and eye closures. Pin or moth hole to bodice and a few tiny stray threads, else near fine.
